Not legal advice
Courthouse Guide explains which public office keeps a record and how to ask for it. It does not give legal advice and cannot tell you what to do in your situation. Reading the guide or contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship with anyone. If you need advice, talk to a lawyer licensed in your state.
Not a government website
Courthouse Guide is independent. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any court, clerk of court, sheriff, assessor, parish government, state agency, or law firm. Only the official office can issue records, certified copies, or binding answers about deadlines, fees, and procedures.
Details change; confirm with the office
Every page cites its official sources and shows when it was checked, but offices change hours, fees, phone numbers, online systems, and officeholders without notice. The guide may be out of date or wrong. Before you travel, pay, file, or rely on a deadline, confirm the detail with the office itself.
No records search
The guide does not search court records, run background checks, or hold anyone's records. Links to online record systems go to the official office or its vendor, under their own terms and fees.
Outside websites
Pages link to official and other outside websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, fees, or privacy practices.
Independence
No one can pay to change, add, or remove what a guide page says. If the guide ever carries paid placements, they will be labeled as paid and kept separate from the guide.
